The Battle Within...
Choosing to focus on how to alter something about your body or ways to control what you consume is infinitely easier that concentrating within. Addressing feelings such as unworthiness, self-loathing, and shamefulness is undoubtedly one of the most painful aspects of the healing process in the recovery from an eating disorder. However, this is where hope is found-in learning how to love yourself, in offering yourself the care, protection, and sensitivity that you may have been denied for too many long years. We erroneously suppose that changing our bodies may lead to the repairing of what has gone awfully wrong in our lives. Even worse, society has blindly persuaded us to equate love and acceptance with being thin, but herein lays the error. Perhaps in suffering with an eating disorder, you may have come to this realization: No matter how you alter your body or what weight or size you may achieve, self-worth, joy, and love will not find you there. Only in putting forth your energy towards your inner being can you find healing, beauty, and love. Cherish and love yourself, beginning today.

This is so true. But also, easier said than done. I wish I understood what was causing my ED.
Thank you for this post! Everything you said is so true, and articulated in such a well written way.
