As a clinician in the field of eating disorder treatment, I can say that pregnancy is often a triggering time for women in recovery from eating disorders. Feeling out of control of their bodies and weight gain is tough to tolerate for these individuals.
I have seen a few clients that binged while pregnant, but fortunately, they did not purge.

I actually found this not to be the case with me. I struggled with anorexia for many years. I actually started my recovery process a lot more seriously fully when I found out I was pregnant with my son. I have been in recovery ever since and it has almost been 8 years now. I guess everyone is different!

Yes, for me, too, I got serious about recovery, more than ever, when I became pregnant. I knew that I was responsible for another's health and could not live with myself if I risked the baby within me's life...
It has been uphill ever since. Especially because I began to appreciate my body for it's amazing ability to bring life into this world.

Yes I totally agree with you 100%! I feel so blessed to of still been able to even have kids. It was a miracle actually. I was told I couldn't have kids from the damage my anorexia did to me. Recovery is definitely possible for ANYONE but you have to want it bad enough. I appreciate my body a lot more after having kids and feel truly blessed being that there are many women out there that want to have children and can't but it is never to late to heal your body! Everday is an open opportunity for recovery and I am so glad I chose that path. I am grateful that I am well enough to watch him grow up!
